Cadet Guard

New to Lakeville Guard in 2022, The Cadets are our youth color guard comprised of elementary and middle school aged students, starting in 1st grade, from all Lakeville Area Schools. This guard is intended for "new to color guard" kids who want to perform in "The Sport of the Arts" with less time commitment for busy families. They are coached by the Lakeville Guard coaches and mentored by Lakeville Guard veteran performers and recent graduates. 

During the summer, The Cadets rehearse as a team as well as with the older guards occasionally (something they LOVE). They perform in a few parades throughout the summer (also, something they LOVE), during pre-game at a few high school home football games (again, something they LOVE) and we are always looking for more performance opportunities for these eager Cadets.

During the winter, they are a competitive group competing in the Cadet class within MN's North Star Circuit alongside the older Lakeville Winter Guard teams. 

The Cadets focus mainly on beginner movement, marching, drill, dance, choreography, and flag spinning skills. By the end of their first season, some are even starting beginner flag tosses and rifle work. They learn fast!

Grown-Ups: We can always use volunteers to help wrangle cadets (as we affectionately say). They are...uhhh...ENERGETIC!

Lakeville Guard also features a competitive cadet winter guard team who happen to be the YOUNGEST winter guard competitors in all of Minnesota. The Cadet Winter Guard competes indoors to popular reorded music using a variety of dance, flag and even some rifle choreography in their shows. The cadet team attends local competitions around The Twin Cities metro area during the winter months, but does not travel overnight to regional competitions with the older teams.
